Lake Brienzersee
Today was forecasted to turn wet, and certainly the mountains are shrouded in cloud, so we opted to stay at low altitude - a boat trip on the lake. Its all included in our 6 day transport pass. We got the train to Interlaken, just 20 minutes, then walked just a few metres from the train to the boat. So coordinated and efficient! What a treat!

We managed to walk around this picturesque town before the rain set in.

Then the rain set in.
Our first boat is a vintage paddle steamer - gleaming trims - even the engine room that is open for viewing is polished and sparkling. Its actually a ferry so we could get off and on at any of the stops as the fancy takes us. We chose to get off at Glessbach that boasts a waterfall and a famous hotel that is access by an ancient fernicular up the steep incline from the lakes edge. All heritage listed.
We picked up the next “ferry” to take us on to the little town of Brienz at the far end of the lake. We had ourselves a picnic lunch before ambling through this little town. This is also a heritage site. It is famous for its woodcarving. In fact the only totally Swiss-made cuckoo clocks are carved here before being transported to Zurich for assembly into the final product.
Not a paddle steamer this time:

I’ve totally fallen in love with the quaint church spires and clock towers around here
