Hello Prague
Mandy has joined us in Prague - she was ripped off by a taxi driver (overcharged) from the airport. She texted us so we were on guard! Someone on the internet recommended people arriving by train should go across the road to a Hotel and ask them to order a taxi for us. Which is what we did. 20 mins later it still hadn’t turned up, so an employee of the Hotel hailed a taxi for us instead (the very thing all the guide books say you shouldn’t do!). Anyway, this one was ok. We told him the address is of a private apartment where we were meeting our daughter, so he thought we weren’t tourists and charged us half the recommended price for the trip! So the tables had turned - we managed to dupe a taxi driver!! The downside was he greeted Mandy in Czech! She smiled demurely and we tipped him, so everyone was happy!!!!

Love the contrast between the two modes of transport!!

Just around the corner from our apartment is the Powder Tower: one of the original gates to the city. And next door, the Municipal Building, which, by the way houses a magnificent concert hall. Not bad for council chambers!

We then proceeded to get lost - but they say its the best way to get to know a city - right? We tried the subway too, then re-found ourselves in time for lunch - at a beer garden on top of a hill, recommended for its views of Prague.

Our first hours were spent doing a little grocery shopping and getting our bearings.
As the sun starting dipping low, just catching the rooftops, it soon became obvious that there are a lot of bikers in town. After a bit of google research we learned that Prague is celebrating the 115th Anniversary of Harley Davidson.

After a good nights sleep we hit the streets, did a bit of wandering around soaking up the atmosphere.
