Phew! It’s hot in Frankfurt!
Right, the best way to tackle city explorations in a heat wave - do it on a bus! One of those Hop on Hop off things.

So we settled for exploring the “Old Town”. And this too is new - rebuilt in its original style. All very clinical really, and much of it still vacant of tenants.

The Lutheran church in the central square was charming though. So austere after the Catholic cathedrals we’ve seen so far.

We did happen upon a local produce market, which was almost deserted in the heat. But, oh my, the mushrooms looked good -

These are chanterelles - apparently only in season for about a month - so I know what I’m having for lunch.

Looks a mess, but it as mushrooms in a cream sauce over pasta. Alan had calves liver!

I think we’ve covered all we want to see here. Just as well we’re only here for a couple of days.
It only took us 45 minutes to do the whole circuit. Should we have wanted to Hop Off at the museum sector, then we could have whiled away half a day there I suppose, but to tell the truth, we are pretty museumed out of German history at this instant! We can see that this is a very modern city now - money from Banking and Transportation have rebuilt this city after 80% of it was flattened in the war.

The main thing people do her is go shopping - there is a massive shopping area where 500,000 people shop there every day of the week - most of them tourists on a flight stopover! So we joined them for a spell, then walked back to our hotel along the river bank.
