Rhine Valley
Needed to escape the city today - so for our last day on the European Continent we chose a cruise on the Rhine.

Great view - but the best bit was the cable car ride down to the river afterwards. So peaceful floating through the forest then down to a quaint old town.

Lunch was at this “over the top” corny touristy restaurant - so bad it was funny (ha ha funny). There wasn’t an inch to spare on the walls or ceilings throughout the restaurant AND restrooms for any more ornaments and nicknacks! The bunches of grapes on the ceiling lit up and flashed just like Xmas lights. Even funnier (weird) was the fact we sat next to a Mexican couple (mother and son) - and coincidentally it was just about a year ago that I had my accident in Mexico!

Not to denigrate the experience though - we had a great tour guide who made the trip lots of fun, and the river views were top notch.

Yet another very hot day, and the water levels on the river are very low, due to the heat and drought this year. Apparently during the spring the river was in flood! Hard to believe - the weather is certainly crazier than ever this year.
Quintessential Rhine Valley. A bit kitsch at times, but hey! We are tourists after all!
First we were taken to the top of a hill for a photo shoot from yet another HUGE, BOLD statue - dont the Germans just love them!

So - goodbye to the Continent - oh, my, this half of the journey has flown by! On to our next adventure - the Eurostar, then tomorrow - England! Great - everyone will speak English again! Yippee! And we both desperately need hair cuts! Strange but true - its growing twice its normal rate I’m sure! Like weeds in the spring! Ha Ha! (Couldn’t trust hairdressers here to understand our instructions)
