Street Art and Chocolate

We spend our final morning with Mandy searching out some astounding street art - what a find!  These vibrantly coloured art pieces really bring life to a drab little corner of inner Berlin.

Yet another hot day, so we seek a cool quiet spot for our coffee break - Rausch’s cafe - attached to their famous chocolate shop - which unfortunately had only just transferred its famous chocolate models to a warehouse while the shop undergoes renovations.  The cafe was still operating so we didn’t miss out on special treats.  Naughty but nice!

And so we said goodbye to Mandy - she is off to Paris.  We’re going to miss all her directions to these little gems.

We strive on through the heat to The Topography of Terror exhibition - aptly situated next one of the last remaining sections of the Berlin Wall and with the backdrop of stark examples of Nazi architecture.

Now we are REALLY thirsty!  We’re developing quite a taste for this stuff - - - -

And we needed it before Alan faced his walk through the Brandenburg Gate:

And just around the corner - The Reichstag building - the German Parliament.

We were both WOWed!  What a majestic building - in fact the whole Parliament Quarter is very very impressive.  Wish we could have done a tour of the dome that now rises above it (not shown in the picture), but it is apparently closed for renovations or something.

Maybe next time ... ... ...
