Walking tours
So - 2 walking tours in one day - result - sore feet! It’s cobble stones everywhere! But well worth it.
In the morning: a free walking tour of the old city. We came away from that one well grounded in Czech history. Gave us great insight to not only the city, but Czechoslovakia. Like Hungary, they have barely emerged from Communist suppression. They’re trying to reestablish their identity and heritage.
Then in the afternoon we continued on with our same guide to explore Prague Castle. After checking out a typical Czech pub lunch of course!
The only building we went in was St Vitus’s Cathedral, somewhat sparse for a Catholic Church. We learned that Czechoslovakia is 80% atheist! Most of the other buildings are administrative buildings of the President.
To be quite honest the buildings on the whole were pretty bland - but the views from up here are grand.
